How to Create a Custom Sexual Wellness Product Using an Existing Electronic Core
Do You Really Need to Develop Everything from Scratch?
Imagine you run a sexual wellness brand. You find a vibrator with the functions and internal layout you want, but its appearance doesn’t fit your brand.

Could you keep the existing electronics and develop a different exterior? Possibly—but first you need to understand what the design can accommodate.
One Core, Different Design Directions
An electronic product may contain a motor, battery, PCB, controls and other components. If an existing arrangement meets your functional requirements, it can be a starting point for exploring new product designs.
Depending on the product, that might involve a different exterior, color, material or packaging. It doesn’t mean every part can be changed independently—or that all proposed designs are ready for production.
For a smaller brand, the opportunity is to start with a product foundation that may already address some functional requirements, then focus on the differences that matter to its customers.
What Can Be Reused—and What Needs Engineering Work?
Changing packaging or selecting an available color is different from developing a new product shape.
A new exterior may affect motor placement, battery clearance, component retention, assembly or sealing. Those changes need engineering review. A new shape may also require tooling, even when some of the electronics can be reused.
Using an existing electronic core does not automatically mean no new mold, a lower MOQ or a shorter development timeline. Those details depend on the actual design and manufacturing route.
Start With a Reference, Not a Perfect Drawing
You don’t need a complete engineering package to begin a useful conversation. A reference product, an image of the style you like and a short explanation of what you want to change can be enough for an initial review.
At WE-WAND, Lea can help you clarify which parts may be reusable, what requires further factory confirmation and where your idea needs more development work.
